Meet Notes:
Seattle Pacific is excited to host the Chambers Bay Collegiate Open on October 2, 2021 at Chambers Creek Regional Park. 9:30 AM - Women’s 5000m 10:00 AM - Men’s 8000m This meet will be held in conjunction with the Curtis Invite, the longstanding and popular high school meet. While we are sharing the site and timer and those associated costs, the college and high school portions of the meet will be operated separately. All collegiate entries and payment will be submitted via DirectAthletics (https://www.directathletics.com/meets/xc/18056.html). We are also using a separate meet file from that of the high school races, so all scratches/revisions to entries can be communicated directly with me via this email address. Cost is $20 per athlete with a $100 team cap per team per gender. The entry deadline will be Wednesday, September 29 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. These races will be for eligible, in-uniform collegiate cross country athletes only; no unattached entries will be permitted. If you are craving an opportunity for an unattached athlete to compete, I believe there will be a Community/Open 5000m race at some point in the program, but note that those entries will be conducted via Curtis High School. The course is a newly-designed layout that was conceived in the lead-up to our successful bid to host the NCAA DII Championship as part of the 2022 DII Fall Sports Festival. For those teams who are NCAA DII, this meet can serve as a great opportunity to get acquainted with next year’s NCAA course. This site also plays host to this season’s NWAC Championship, so our meet also aims to serve as a conference preview for those programs. Outside of a handful of path crossings, it is 100% grass. The course is relatively flat, but we did intentionally include a few berms and rollers to create a truer cross country atmosphere. I have attached a document that includes maps and photos. (You can also look up this past March’s Pac-12 XC Championship if you want to see video of the course.) Thank you to those of you who have already expressed intent to attend. Looking forward to hearing similar messages from many others of you in the coming weeks. I am so glad we are able to play a small part in bringing Fall Cross Country back into our lives and those of our student-athletes!
